Local hunters and others travel to the region to hunt quality, big game species such as mule deer, white tailed deer, elk, antelope, and upland birds. With a vast amount of public ground, literally within sight of the front porch, one could occupy a fall traversing the rolling pine hills and never step foot in the same track twice.
Recreationally there is anything you could think of to do outdoors. Camping is close with several state parks, the closest being Medicine Rock State Park to the north only 30 minutes. The touristy Black Hills of South Dakota are not far off either, as one could travel there and back in a day’s time fairly easily.

The propter lies just a couple miles as the crow flies northeast of Ekalaka, MT. Ekalaka is the county seat of Montana’s most southeasterly county, Carter County. At around 400 people, according to the 2020 Census, Ekalaka has elementary schools through Carter County High School.
