Situated just east of Roundup Montana is the Caltana Ranch, vastly populated with timbered coulees and lush riparian habitat along the Musselshell River. Access is terrific at only one quarter mile south of Highway 12. With approximately 1,423 deeded acres, there is a tremendous amount of diversity throughout the property. Gently rising high above the meandering river are pine laden rolling hills that give way to the tillable acreage on the property. While most of the acreage is grass pasture, there are over 140 acres of tillable acreage. The Bull Mountains is home to a tremendous elk herd, and the property can host a variety of wildlife, including elk, deer, turkeys, upland birds and migratory as well. EThe property is anchored with a quaint 2 bedroom 2 bath house currently under a modest remodel.
The property consists of 1,423 +/- deeded acres, 144 acres being tillable acreage. An adjoining state lease of 310 acres brings the total acreage to 1,733 acres.

The property’s most recent use has been recreation while the current owners do lease out the grazing on a year-to-year contract.

The wildlife resources are some of the finest in Montana. The Bull Mountain elk herd is great in number and in quality. Several 380″ caliber bull elk are harvested throughout the region annually. Mule deer and white tailed deer are also prevalent to the area, as are Merriams turkeys and upland birds. Migratory birds do frequent the Musselshell River in the fall when the water is gentle and open. Resident Montana archery elk tags are generous in the Bull Mountains, and typically offer high opportunity rates.
The is always plenty to do in Montana, and this property’s opportunities are virtually endless. Fishing, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, UTV and motorcycle riding are all possible on this property. Ft. Peck Reservoir is Montana’s largest body of freshwater, and one can be fishing or boating with an hours drive. Encompassing Ft. Peck Reservoir, is the C.M. Russel National Wildlife Refuge, which includes thousands of acres of recreational access and offers some of the best hunting in the state.

The Caltana Ranch is 10 minutes east of Roundup, MT, the county seat of Musselshell County, which has a population of just under 2,000 people. This small but growing community is less than an hour drive from Billings, Montana’s largest city.
